We enjoyed a much more settled season than roller coaster 2024-25. Some preliminary highlights include:

• The most welcome sight of retirees Steve and Tom as regular attendees;
• It was Ronzo's 500th game on 7th October - the 4th member to achieve this significant milestone - followed by Squancey's 400th game on 23rd March;
• Part of the Hamersley 10th tee sacrificed to make way for car parking resulting in par rating changes to the 10th and 18th holes and some creative re-indexing by the club;
• Barnstorming winning performances – Macca at the Binningup Open with a 1st round 46 pts at Harvey; Steve at the Mandurah Masters also with a 46 pt final round at Mandurah;
• The superb hospitality by Jeannie and Macca on 9 December and Reggie and Tom for the Christmas breakfast;
• Steve's clever contributions including Bingo at the Mandurah Masters; inducting us as Life Time members into the Old Bastards Golf Club; and the natty ball markers and bag tags;
• Venturing into rarely, if ever, played courses – SoR Day 2 at Kennedy Bay; the Not the Burswood Trophy at The Vines;
• Agreement to split the AGM from the Winter Trophy;
• Reaching a total of 4,608 games played by current club members.

It was a roller coaster 2024-25 season but one replete with great golfing moments, fixture mayhem, personal milestones, a touch of sadness and a new and very memorable east coast golfing Open. Some notables included:

• Macca's 500th game in the opening round surrounded by hectic activity on the new clubhouse and practice facility;
• Ronzo's much appreciated after round tasty and varied snacks;
• A Binningup Open featuring Pinky's strawberries in Cointreau; Macca's nicknames (Muffin Man to MacMuffin to RagaMuffin); Pinky and Scobes' Collie charcuterie; Chris and Squancey's magnificent meals;
• A first ever set of 4 consecutive away games prior to the Hamersley reopening round;
• December 17th - a return to Hamersley and the very impressive refurbishments contrasting with the relatively poor course condition; and the celebration of Ronzo's 77th birthday with a magnificent chocolate birthday cake;
• The sad news of Sue Jack's passing;
• The Christmas Cup - played despite the "Course closed for maintenance" sign; a season first - no LD or NTP winners; a brilliant celebration breakfast at the House of Joseph (and Trump?);
• South of the River - Day 1: Pinky's sensational record equalling 47 pts at Rockingham; Day 2: High heat, 5 starters, 3 finishers, low scores;
• January 14th - Walks's 500th game (and a 2nd placing); No GBW booking! But Vikki saved the day;
• Joondalup fire delayed the event for a month with Maylands proving an adequate substitute. It wasn't until we played the Classic that we witnessed all of the building housing the pro shop, cafe and cart store closed;
• Club Championship significant for the fact that no player bettered their handicap despite 15 attempts;
• March 11th - a dark day - GBWGC did not have a booking and couldn't be fitted in. AND there were no bookings for the remainder of the season - until Macca straightened them out!!
• A rare appearance at Marri Park was enjoyed by all - well maybe not Macca after an almost non-appearance.
• The Pièce de Résistance was undoubtedly the Hunter Valley Open, an unforgettable series of social and golfing experiences brilliantly organised and unique to the Valley.

Next season may see a notable new regular - The (retired) Little Master - and a notable absentee - Pinky, on safari. In the meantime, our positive thoughts and best wishes go out to our great mate Scobes for a steady and complete recovery.

Another magnificent season has come and gone but will not be forgotten. Despite work commitments, the travel bug and a scapula scandal, we still averaged 6 players each week.

Each season has its memorable and notable moments and 2018–19 was no exception:

• It was the year of the Macca confounding the pundits with most wins . . . and most NAGAs! . . . while, in between, notching up 4 Major wins including the prestigious Club Champion;
• Macca also produced yet another varied set of fixtures with Golden Putter on the move; North of the River and South of the River contests with gourmet lunches turned on by 'Manu' Joseph and 'Pete' Jackson; and a new Major as the Not the Burswood Trophy undergoes a resurrection;
• Rollercoaster Ronzo, in just 4 games this season, goes out one stroke in each of his first two games then comes in 2 strokes in each of his last two for 2 wins and a NAGA!
• Squancey set a Masters Jacket record winning score (41 points), appearing on the podium in 16 of 23 rounds;
• Little Master shone in the Match Play in an historic (first MP played at Mornington), impressive (needing to win 3 matches against quality opposition) and first Match Play win;
• Scobes was amongst the records winning the Consistency Award with the highest recorded score;
• Dalbs reached an eye-watering number – 400 games while Scobes sits on the precipice of 300. Our 11 members have played a total of 3,046 games!
• The easy rollin' Jacko out-muscled the usual Long Drive suspects with 8 for the season, a total last achieved by Walks in 2013–14;
• Brian continued to show how trips away can sharpen your game with impressive showings in the Joondalup Classic (3rd) and the Handicapper's Trophy (first) immediately after each return;
• When Walks wins, he takes no prisoners as his 24 points to win the President's Trophy and 41 pts to win the Joondalup Classic will testify!
• And last but not least, the magnificence of the 7th running of the Mornington Masters as Scobes' form guide, hailstones, boxed gold medallions, much fine dining, Julie and the "druggies house", grand courses in great condition, dodgy singing from song sheets, a draw for first place and a record winning score will testify. "The best Mornington Masters yet".

The season never really seems complete without the Allardice boys. But their time will come when it's meant to come and we all look eagerly forward to that time!
